The Zurich Maraton de Sevilla is extending the number of registrations to celebrate its 40th edition and to give a response to the athletes who are currently on the waiting list since last August 12th when the 12,000 available bibs were sold out.

Today, August 12^th, the 12,000 available places for the 40th anniversary of the Zurich Seville Marathon to be held on 23 February 2025 has been sold out. It’s the first time in its history that the event run out of slots six and a half months in advance, thanks to the expectation reached among elite athletes and popular runners who especially value the benefits of the circuit (the flattest in Europe), the very special weather conditions in February in Andalusia and the opportunity to run through the historic centre of one of the most attractive cities in the world.

The Ethiopian Deresa Geleta, new best time of the course in Seville with 2h03:27, and his compatriot Azmera Gebru (2h22:13), winners of an event that has paid tribute to Abel Antón and the world record holder Kelvin Kiptum, who died seven days ago. 12 runners have run under 2h08 and 24 women under 2h28, achieving up to eight national records, and the male world leading. Sevilla is now the sixth fastest marathon of the world.
